Preparing for Your Video Interview

PRIOR TO YOUR INTERVIEW – 5 QUICK STEPS

1. Review this preparation document completely so you know what to expect and get the best results for your video.
2. Ensure access to a computer with a microphone and webcam, and a fast internet connection for the interview.  If you have an external USB microphone, it is preferred but not
3. Select a suitable space for the interview.  We recommend where you normally do consults if possible so we can replicate the patient experience. The room should be  well-lit, window or room lighting are both fine. Ensure the area and background is tidy, and that the wall behind you contrasts with your skin tone so you don’t disappear in the background.
4. Setup Zoom and your system.  If you haven’t used Zoom before, simply click here and it will guide you through the setup so you can see how your system is working.  Adjust the computer camera to your eye level when sitting up straight, elevating the computer if needed to ensure you are at a flattering and natural angle. You may even have a staff member join your meeting from their system and give feedback.
5. Note key points you’d like to cover in your interview.  You will be asked questions about the advantages of IDEAL IMPLANT from a patient’s perspective, advantages of your practice over other surgeons, as well as your thoughts on how a woman can best weigh her options and successfully prepare for and recover from surgery.

INTERVIEW DAY

1. Wear clean, professional clothing, just as when meeting with patients, scrubs are acceptable if that is your preference.  Darker colors without strong patterns are best.
2. Tidy hair and makeup. If you normally wear makeup, a little more than usual is appropriate.  If you don’t, keep a handkerchief handy or consider a light dusting of cosmetic face powder to avoid shine.
3. Avoid distractions.  Turn of ringers and notifications and ask staff for privacy, close windows and doors.  Put phones away and close all other windows and computer popups so you can stay focused.
4. Please click the interview link a few minutes prior to your meeting time so we can ensure the sound and video are working.  

DURING THE INTERVIEW

1. When speaking, please look directly into the camera instead of looking at yourself talking on the computer screen or around the room. It will help viewers see you as engaged and will help you make a personal connection. Consider taping a small picture that makes you smile just over the camera lens.
2. Avoid extra noise. Microphones can amplify even the smallest sounds. Avoid extra noises such as clicking ballpoint pens, tapping your pen on the desk, shuffling papers, eating, drinking, and chewing gum. Be aware of the microphone placement and avoid accidentally bumping it or covering it with anything.
   
   
3. Keep body language friendly and open.  Sit up straight, unfold legs and arms, and maintain an expression that says “I like you.”  (Hint: this magically happens without effort if you keep this phrase in your head or taped by your camera).
   
   
4. Answer the question as if the viewer didn’t hear it.  We edit ourselves out of your video, so it’s helpful if your answer doesn’t refer back to what your interviewer has said.  Speak as you would in a traditional face-to-face meeting, at a comfortable pace so you can be understood.
5. Relax!  As difficult as this can be, viewers will respond best to you when you are feeling relaxed, engaged, and upbeat.  If today you just aren’t feeling it, it is best to reschedule your interview than force it.
